TASAH – CellCheck (Dry Cow Consult) Training
As part of the Targeted Advisory Service on Animal Health (TASAH), consults between trained veterinary practitioners and their clients are available for the next three years. All Irish herds are eligible to take part in the scheme.
As part of the Targeted Advisory Service on Animal Health (TASAH) Dry Cow Consults, delivered by trained veterinary practitioners, will enable farmers to engage with their veterinary practitioner to develop farm-specific selective dry cow strategies, where appropriate.
To participate in the programme, PVPs must first complete specialist training, which is being offered by AHI. The training will have a particular focus on responsible antibiotic use when drying off cows and the development of selective drying off strategies. This will include identification and analysis of the necessary information, use of the ICBF data base, case studies, plus a practical training element. On completion, a trained PVP will be in a position to provide a free Dry Cow Consult to their eligible dairy farming clients in preparation for this year’s drying off season.
This specialist training is open to all veterinary practitioners working with dairy farmers in the area of udder health.
