AHI and Animal Health and Welfare NI sign Memorandum of Understanding

28/09/12

AHI and Animal Health and Welfare NI (AHWNI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding at the National Ploughing Championship this week. The Memorandum paves the way for close collaboration between the two organisations which have a similar structure and remit. Commenting on the signing, Joe O’Flaherty, CEO of AHI said: “I am delighted by the developing relationship between our two organisations. The signing of this Memorandum paves the way for each of us to make best use of our limited resources. The immediate benefit will be the sharing between the two jurisdictions of the expertise of our respective Programme Managers for BVD and Johne’s disease. From a disease perspective, the island of Ireland is a single epidemiological unit and it makes perfect sense to coordinate our control efforts as closely as possible on both sides of the border.”
